About Daniel Poon
Dr Daniel Poon is the head optometrist at Dry Eye Solution Chatswood, on Sydney’s Lower North Shore. He practises within Australia’s only dedicated dry eye clinic network and is trained in the Toyos Protocols developed by the network’s medical director, Dr Rolando Toyos. His care is assessment-led, covering meibomian gland dysfunction, blepharitis, Demodex and ocular rosacea.
Approach to dry eye care
Every patient starts with a full 45-minute dry eye assessment rather than a treatment recommendation. The tear film, ocular surface and the structure and function of the meibomian glands are all examined before anything is proposed. The plan that follows is personalised, and can draw on IPL under the Toyos Protocols, gland expression and lid care. It is reviewed over time as the glands respond.
